Colour Study : Final Assignment

I was tasked to put my knowledge on colour into my final assignment. The idea of fashion design is something I have never tried before, thus it was pretty interesting. Although I admit to be confused about how my design will turn out, this is what I wanted to make. Without further ado, I went ahead and thrashed my closet.

I chose the style "Haute Couture", in French it means elegant design/sewing. Haute couture designs are always hand-sewn and stitched, with excruciating details and complicated match-ups that make your wildest dreams on fashion design come true. Haute couture is a title for the utmost established fashion houses out there, such as Chanel and Dior. However, they main income does not come from designing Haute couture fashion, but through their line of accessories and ready-to-wear outfits. Designing Haute couture fashion to them is a way of showing off their talent and brilliant minds, creating unique and individual styles and designs that no one else could thought of. In additon, Haute couture means custom made fashion, thus appoinments are required. To sum it up (within my limited knowledge) Haute couture is expensive clothing that high class designer houses create for the sole purpose of either personal enjoyment, expressing their ideas or challenging themselves to the next upper level. (Or to show off how well they can stitch)
I got inspiration from a bare naked tree in front of my sister's school. It was spontaneous, but because I have never try my hands on fashion design, the sudden strike of inspiration was something special to me.

This is my initial sketch which later evolved into something much more modern and less fantasy-like.
I found branches that are suitable for my design right outside my front gates thanks to the Lord. I didn't need to look for long. Then I spray painted them blue and added glitter onto the tips.
Adjusting them onto the shoulders and in-between the sash. A few of the branches were broken into smaller pieces and taped together to form a ribbon-like shape.
Due to the fact I do not have blue see-through sash, I used something else instead. The sash below are also altered to make it longer. The final design didn't look anything like my sketch but it is the best I could do with what few materials I could find.
My proud sister, who's too tall for her own good.
