Re: Internship 3

Sixth Task: Coupon Design

The goal is to design a coupon card with a code on it, allowing users to use said code to obtain bonuses from the company's app that they will download.

A standard business card size was used. This took a really long time as we kept on improving and making the coupon better.

Here are all of the designs so far:

The initial concept was to design the coupons looking like certificates. Not enough research were put into these designs, which made them look outdated and really boring.

Trying with a more minimal style, added in a tagline. However the design is still dull and unimaginative.

Stripes were added into the design.

Added the characters into the design, making it look more like a bookmark with its extended height. A graduation hat was also used as a template.

Shirt die-cut design was tested. A simple design with a watermark background was also tested. A new concept was to design the coupons based on boarding passes.

A lot of research went into designing the coupon cards, but it is still a work in progress at the moment.

With a postcard size as template this time, a whole new concept was used to create these coupon cards. By initiating a conversation through testimonials, it engages the audience to really think about what this app can do for them.
(some of these works came out through collaborative brainstorming with other designers in the company, thank you for the inspirations and guidance)

What I learnt:
Continuous trial and error makes for a better design.
'Design is not complete until there is nothing you can take away from it'
Spacing between elements in a design.
Font sizes for printing, and importance of contrast for printing.
Leading and tracking in typography design.
