Where is Graphic Design?

Graphic Design is everywhere, to list down a few examples:

1. Logo

A logo is something close to a corporate's 'trademark'. People recognises a company through their logo, making it a crucial point for marketing. It uses creative typeface and imagery to establish a link between the original idea of the corporate to their audience. A logo is meant to immediately advertise the purpose of whatever it is representing. Also, a good logo gives a strong impression that lasts forever, but a bad logo makes the whole package look bad.

2. Website

Graphic Design also talks about layout and strategy, and websites that have all the right information at all the right places shows there is good planning involved. Ever wondered why ads are put in certain corners of the website while some takes up a few banners or two? By adding a little bit of aesthetic sense into making websites, it can either look really professional or totally out of this world, depending on your content.

3. Advertisement

This comes in all shapes and sizes; billboard, television commercials, flyers, movie commercials, posters, online pop-ups and even YouTube has advertisements on. By placing advertisements on their websites, this gives them extra cash in their pockets, which helps them with their service upgrades and everything in between. Print advertisements are there to catch the eyes, and to convince people to purchase their products as effective as a billboard can be. Nowadays we see electric billboards all over the streetlights, showing how advertisement is taking it to a whole new level. (Digital advertising)

4. Brochure

There are also a few types of brochures; general brochure, promotional brochure, travel brochure, food & beverage brochure and even brochures to raise awareness.

5. Product Packaging

Packaging is something that helps improve the marketing sales of products. Products may come from different categories and each require certain combinations of mix-and-match to work properly as a sure sell product. Colour coordination, layout, illustration and attractive designs are all part of a graphic designer's job to create a successful packaging.

Good book cover designs bring out the best of the content and usually relate to their targeted market. Colour coordination and typography counts too.

The layout of the book is also part of Graphic Design. Attractive colours and illustrations pull in the children, while sophisticated and tasteful layouts attract the adults. Choice of font is also important depending on the content and your market.
